Grand Hotel Club Daniela - Otranto - Puglia
OTRANTO - PUGLIA
Unpolluted beaches
This is Otranto, in Salento, a land of ancient origins, full of sunny little villages, walled farms, vineyards, olive groves, and unpolluted beaches and reefs. This coastline, which is in the heart of the Pugliese Adriatic, is almost completely carved out of rock. Amongst the verdant pine forests, sandy beaches, rocky coves and grottoes, you will find Conca Specchiulla: a very pleasant beach, cared for and protected by its unpolluted natural environment, facing out onto a very clear, deep blue sea. This part of Puglia is known as "the Greece of Salento" and stretches from the ancient port of Gallipoli to Otranto, an elegant town with medieval walls and narrow streets, where you can visit the very impressive and beautiful Norman Cathedral. We are in a territory that is rich in tradition, as witnessed by the numerous crypts, frescoed churches, palace facades and beautiful squares. The "griko" dialect, the local music and dance, and the Mediterranean cuisine are all evidence of the strong Greek roots of this area, and its wealth of history and marvels.
